Dance Workshop @ Galaxy Dance Studios

The Dance of Joy is a contemporary style of dance that infuses the best of various cultural elements along with theater. The Dance of Joy is the informal name of a dance style that was created here in Austin by the instructor of this workshop, Tara Martinez. Tara was a classically trained Indian dancer for 12 years and a dance instructor for 3 of those years. This experience as well as her love for other dance styles and cultures lead to creation of this new style. The driving force behind properly dancing this style is the heart chakra. The unfolding of emotions combined with technique provides a meditative quality, a powerful means of self expression, and stress relief. The Dance of Joy also uses movements that work with your body so people of various skill levels can dance and not hindered.
The class will start off with a short demo, then we will stretch, we will then get into the abinaya (theatrical) side of dance), and then put all of these elements to music. The class is designed to be inspiring, engaging, and fun. So mark your calendars and sign up today!
